Why the Age of Aquarius Is Important Now

In 1969, there was a song, “Age of Aquarius,” by the 5th Dimension, with the statement, “This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.” Even though I was a little girl, I understood that something bright and wonderful was happening. Listening to the song gives the impression that many people were watching and waiting with great expectation for this dawning of a new era. So that led me to question, what really is the age of Aquarius and why it is important.

In astrology, the Age of Aquarius is considered a significant period that is believed to bring about major shifts and changes in the world and individuals. But what exactly is the Age of Aquarius and what does it mean for humanity as a whole?

The concept of the Age of Aquarius dates back to ancient astrological beliefs. In astrology, different ages are determined by the position of the Earth in relation to the constellations of the zodiac. The Age of Aquarius is said to follow the Age of Pisces, which began around the time of Jesus Christ. According to some astrologers, we officially entered the Age of Aquarius in the 20th century. Some also say we entered it in 2024. Understanding the significance of the Piscean Age gives us clarity about why the Age of Aquarius is considered special.

In astrology, the Piscean Age refers to the astrological period associated with the sign of Pisces. This age is said to have started around 2000 years ago and is believed be ended or coming to an end soon, making way for the Age of Aquarius.

Okay, so what is or was the Piscean Age?

The Piscean Age was a time associated with spirituality, compassion, and creativity. It was the time of the influence of Christ. It is not a coincidence that a Christian symbol is a fish, the same symbol for Pisces. If you are reading this in 2024, you were born in the Piscean Age. As we move towards the Age of Aquarius, it is believed that we will see a shift in what is important to us and what we value. During the Piscean Age, humans valued spirituality. This included mysticism and a deeper connection to the divine. Many spiritual traditions and practices flourished during this time.

Since Pisces is a sign known for its compassion and empathy, people born under this sign are often seen as sensitive and caring people. The Piscean age brought about a societal interest in having compassion for the poor, the needy, countries, turmoil, etc. It has been socially acceptable during this time to demonstrate compassion at any time of need.

Also, Pisces is a sign of creativity and imagination. Think about the surges of creativity that developed over the past 2000 years. For example, the Great Renaissance was a time of exceptional creative growth. Yet, not only artists flourished, but also scientific and technological innovators. Whether it’s the convenience of smartphones or the breakthroughs in medical technology, the Piscean age has shown us the power of human ingenuity and its ability to shape a brighter future for generations to come.

Transition to the Age of Aquarius

As the Piscean Age draws to a close, there is an exciting buzz about the transition to the Age of Aquarius! It’s like the universe is getting ready to hit the refresh button, offering us new energies and perspectives to embrace. This new age is believed to bring about a shift in consciousness, with an emphasis on equality, innovation, and humanitarianism. During the Piscean Age, religion was considered the most commonly accepted spiritual practice. Religion can be seen as a noble quest for the perfection of adhering to set rules and beliefs. It offers a pathway for individuals to seek guidance, find solace, and strive for spiritual fulfillment. By following the prescribed doctrines and rituals, many find a sense of purpose and structure in their lives. While interpretations may vary, the core message often revolves around leading a moral and virtuous existence. Embracing religion can provide a source of comfort and community for those who choose to walk this path. Movement to a new age will either usher in a stronger adherence to a religious path or it will evolve to something new. If we look to the qualities of the sign of Aquarius, as we did, Pisces, it will be a time of seeking the truth. Those born under the sign of Aquarius are excellent seekers of the bottom line, or what is really occurring. Many believe we will see a shift to knowing what we have been taught falsely in religion.  Time will tell.

We definitely know that the transition from one astrological age to another will have an impact on society as a whole. It may bring about changes in the way we view the world, ourselves, and each other. It could herald a new era of progress, enlightenment, and social change.

When did we enter the Age of Aquarius?

While there is some debate among astrologers about the exact timing of the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, many believe that it began in the 20th century. Some point to the 1960s as a particularly significant time, with the rise of counterculture movements and a focus on peace, love, and unity. However, just like with most astrological events, the Age of Aquarius may have a time of rising and falling during which characteristics of the age may be seen and felt. So, the actual Age may not be here, but like a full moon event, we may feel aspects of it now. In other words, we won’t suddenly change from one day to the next. Gradual is the keyword.

How is the Age of Aquarius supposed to change the world?

The Age of Aquarius is often associated with themes of innovation, progress, and humanitarianism. It is believed to be a time of great change, where old systems and structures are challenged and new ideas and technologies emerge. Many astrologers predict that the Age of Aquarius will bring about a greater focus on mostly 3 things: equality, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Think about how we have moved more toward those things since the 1960s when the 5th Dimension sang their song.

How is the Age of Aquarius supposed to change people?

On an individual level, the Age of Aquarius is said to inspire personal growth and enlightenment.
