Learning to love yourself is the biggest challenge in our lifetime. This is because we are inundated with societal standards and the need to interact with others. Did you know you can set energetic boundaries to help you feel more centered, calm, and confident to advocate for yourself? Below are three practices to help boost your self-love!

Surround Yourself in Light and Love
Want to love yourself? Then stop comparing who you are to someone else. We are all very unique individuals and will never look, sound, or live in the same reality as others. This is because each of us has a reason why we are alive during this time. Special and unique missions that only your soul can perform. When you compare yourself to another, you decrease your energetic boundaries, creating cracks and allowing negativity to enter.
Instead, you should focus mentally on surrounding yourself with light and love. I do this with a mental visualization of being surrounded by white light filled with love and compassion. This egg-shaped light bubble surrounds me, extending 3-6 feet in all directions. This is my barrier against the outside world, allowing me ample time to process emotions about situations I encounter and feelings that may bubble up.

Preventing People from “vamping” your energy
We have all heard, read, or watched vampires on television. Did you know that people can energetically drain you, much like those vampires previously mentioned do with their substance of choice? Oh yes, some would look outside themselves for sustainability rather than inwardly. It is difficult to look at a person and firmly identify them as an energy vampire. Instead, these are people that, after we encounter them, we feel utterly exhausted. This exhaustion is not a form of physical exertion or mental fatigue; it is a deep level of exhaustion in the body. Physical contact, such as handshaking or holding, hugging, or close bodily contact, probably occurred.
These situations open your energy field to that person and allow them to seep through the cracks to siphon your energy. So protect yourself from it! Much like how we create boundaries by preventing people from coming uninvited into our homes, we can also do that with our energy fields. In addition to your egg-shaped light bubble, you can ask your angels for protection whenever you leave the house.
See, angels are a phenomenal way to protect yourself, but they cannot intervene unless you ask them to. That means you must let them know you need protection as you leave the house. It is as simple as it seems. Set forth the intention of protection and ask your angels to help. This is how I phrase it, but you can and should adapt it to what feels right for you.
“Thank you, Angels, for protecting me as I leave my home today. I ask that you keep me safe from those with negative thoughts or intentions. Protect me from harm while I am out.”

Grounding in Solitude
Now that you know how to protect yourself outside of the home, let us talk about how you release those energies you have encountered. To do this, you must remember to ground yourself. In this state, you become present in the moment and release the energies that do not serve you. One quick method is rooting. Find a place where you can be alone, then take a few deep breaths that bring awareness to your body. As you breathe, envision your roots growing into the earth beneath you. Then, imagine the negative energy traveling down the roots and being released to Earth for transmutation. This is how you release the energies that do not serve your higher purpose.
But how does this help you love yourself? When we carry around so much negative energy, our energy barrier changes, attracting more negative thoughts and actions. This causes us to see ourselves and the world around us much less appealing. When you release these energies, it is like clearing your vision and seeing the world you truly live in. It’s opening your eyes to a bright sun that reflects brighter colors around you, elevating your mood and awareness. When you practice this regularly, the gunky energies that bring our mental state down dissipate, allowing a cascade of positive energy flow. This energy is pure love and light!
