Unlocking the Mysteries: Tarot Tower Card

Have you ever pulled the Tower card in a tarot reading or had a reader pull one for your sign? Did you wonder what it means? The Tower card is one of the most feared and misunderstood cards in the tarot deck. But fear not, as I am here to shed some light on the true meaning of this wonderfully powerful card.
Meaning of the Tower Card
The Tower card is often associated with sudden change, upheaval, and chaos. Anyone looking at it, tarot reader or not, will see the high level of energy reflected in it. It typically depicts a tower being struck by lightning, with people falling from the tower. This imagery may seem alarming, but in reality, the Tower card signifies a necessary and transformative process. It symbolizes the breaking down of old structures and beliefs to make way for new beginnings.
This a card of destruction, but also of liberation and enlightenment. Every time I see the card with people falling out of it, I think, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.” Freedom. In the card, the tower was built on sand. The tower was doomed to fall. The people in the tower are not alarmed at all about falling.
Typically, when you pull the Tower card in a reading, it is a sign that significant change is on the horizon.Yet, it is not to be feared. Change is a constant. While this change may be disruptive and challenging, it is ultimately for your highest good. The change this signifies may be sudden and disruptive, but it is inevitable. Some say that this change reflected in this card is determined to happen. Remember, as Abraham Hicks says, “The universe is always working for your highest good.” Embrace the chaos and trust that it will lead you to a better place.

The Tower Card with Other Tarot Cards
When the Tower card appears in a reading alongside other cards, its meaning can be influenced by the surrounding cards. For example, if the Tower card is followed by the Death card, it may signify the end of a chapter in your life, leading to a rebirth and transformation. If it appears with the Devil card, it could indicate a period of upheaval caused by toxic patterns or beliefs that need to be released.
On the other hand, if the Tower card is surrounded by more positive cards, such as the Sun or the Star, it may suggest that the changes ahead will ultimately bring joy and fulfillment. It is essential to consider the context of the Tower card in relation to the other cards in the reading to fully understand its message. It does not delete all the positives in a spread. Sometimes, it represents the universe giving a needed change to make us move forward. We may even welcome it.

The Tower Card in Love and Relationships
If you pull this card in a love or relationship reading, it does not necessarily mean there will be a break-up. It could, but more often than not, it signifies a difficult or significant event that will push you beyond your limits. It can also be a warning that the energy is moving in the direction of a break-up, but it does not necessarily have to happen.
The tower also represents embracing false beliefs. If you believe your partner must serve a certain purpose in your life for you to be happy, you may be headed for a tower moment where you realize the reality of that purpose is shaking the foundations of your relationship. It can serve as a warning to change before things go too far.
If you are a solo sojourner at the moment, the tower may be showing you that you are about to face a revelation about why you are solo. It may be a very icky feeling moment, but it is there for your growth and improvement.
Depending on your intention in a love reading, the tower always emerges to make you think. Be mindful.

Career and Money
When the tower shows up in a career reading, it can be a warning about a lack of job security or a coming job loss. Yet, it can also indicate a significant change, which is not a bad thing in some jobs. It may indicate great difficulty, but it certainly indicates that the energy is moving and not stagnant. You are not stuck. There may be uncertainty, but that will not linger. It will end.

Health
In health, the Tower can indicate a sudden accident or illness. This can range from a sudden flu outbreak to a miscarriage. Regardless, it will be sudden and dramatic.
It can also be a warning of what is ahead if you do not change your habits. If you, for example, drink two to three glasses of wine each evening, you may be given a warning that you are headed toward physical problems if you don’t slow down. If you are eating too much sugar, or in the case of my son, pizza.
My son got the tower card with respect to his health, and I told him, as Moms do, to slow down on the carbs and especially the pizza which is full of trans fats. Very soon after that, he ended up with stints. So, while the disruption of having stints put in was upsetting, he is much healthier now and eats way less pizza.

Spiritually
If you are seeking guidance or improvement in your spiritual life, the tower can signify a sudden awakening or epiphany. It could be that you are cast out of the tower of your beliefs, but realize that the tower is built on sandy, shaky ground anyway. It was never really secure.
The Tower Card Inverted
For those who read reversals or get this card inverted, it can be a signal that you avoided an upsetting event. It can also be telling you that you are delaying the inevitable. This can apply to health, spirituality, love, or career. Are you buffeting up against a problem and not accepting what you know to be true? You need to let things go and allow life to move towards what must be.
In this position, it can also signify the end of a disruption. Maybe you are going through a Mercury retrograde that is kicking your hindquarters. This card could signify that your troubles can end soon.
Tower Card Combined with Other Cards
Always view the Tower Card combined with another card as helping each other. If a card has a strong energy, it will combine with the energy of the Tower. For example, when you have the Tower combined with the Chariot, one can expect the forward movement of the Chariot to add to the disruption of the Tower. This means the change you may be about to experience can be very sudden and come on very fast. However, remember, this is often a correction of course.
For another example, ponder the Strength card and the Tower card. This combination may mean you will need all your strength to get through a disruption, but it is also saying you definitely have the strength to get through it.
And again, think of how the Fool and Tower combined can be a disruption, but the Fool is a definite beginning. It is warning of a disruption, but it is also saying something new is happening, a fresh start.
The Tower card in tarot may seem intimidating at first glance, but it is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation. Embrace the upheaval and trust that it will lead you to a better place. Remember, the breaking down of old structures paves the way for new beginnings. Trust in the process, and you will emerge stronger and wiser on the other side.
