Festivals celebrate the leaving behind of the previous year’s symbols and welcome in the new year symbol. As we leave the year of the Snake, we celebrate the lessons we learned and the skins we shed. Many of us squirmed and slithered through tough times this year. But ultimately, we use those difficult times to help us shed the things that no longer serve us, much like the skin of a snake. The contrast we traversed helped us desire a new skin for a new time.
Personally, I didn’t have many difficult times, but I did have things I left behind. A job, some friends, some beliefs, some unhealthy habits. Many of us had events this year that forced us to change. Ick! Right!?

If we want to compare the year of the snake to the year of the fire horse, the snake year moved slowly, subtly. Yet, it struck with great force, sometimes out of the blue.

What can we expect from the Year of the Fire Horse?
First of all, the energy is going to be intense and very fast. We can choose how we respond to it. If we fight it, we may be in for a difficult time. Fighting it may mean we run in circles, blinders on, kept on the racetrack.
If we allow it to move and burn, we may find great things coming in and permanently leaving our lives. With love, we need to accept who we are and “run” with it.
If we don’t accept ourselves and our path, we may flame up and burn out. Finding our truth, accepting it, and integrating it into our lives is imperative.
We need to seek how we can ride this energy. Allowing this energy may just give us the ability to harness it. It’s an exercise in rawness and truth. Truth that cannot be faked.
