3 Remarkable Steps For Letting go of the Past
When you are working on letting go of the past and hear the word “release,” what comes to mind? Maybe you think of it as letting go or moving past something. I pictureallowing my fingers let go of a balloon string and watching it flow upward and away. That is because when I release something from my life, I observe it floating away so that better things may come.

It is about moving something away from your being when it is used for spiritual practice. This includes your spiritual being as well as the energetic boundaries of self. Letting go of the past is a way to give yourself freedom and the ability to take a deep breath. The first step is about recognition.
Recognition: The First Step in Letting Go of the Past
We cannot change the past. What we have experienced will stay with us from that moment on, creating energy that attracts the same situation. So, it is not about forgetting what happened but recognizing that it did occur.
When something happens in our lives, good or bad, it imprints on our etheric selves. As energetic beings, we attract and hold on to the energy of different encounters, and that is where we must bring awareness to letting go of the past. Think of it like a magnet of energy that can attract similar events or situations.

Trying to make something disappear in our mind only gives it power to grow in the dark. The longer we push it down, bottle it up, and ignore it, the longer it attracts things we do not want. That is because we hardly ever bottle up the good experiences in life. Instead, we tend to bottle up the negative, hoping we can move on, acting like it never happened. This mindset never worked out for me, so I began recognizing the situations.
Recognition of something in your past shifts the power back to you. You then become the curator of your reality because you tell yourself and the universe, “I’ve got this!” You no longer have to be triggered by specific situations because you have the strength to speak up and get away from them. No longer are you bound by these past experiences; instead, you move fluidly throughout any encounter.

Once you recognize the occurrence, you can acknowledge the situation as you move through, letting go of the past.
Acknowledgement of Self
When you acknowledge situations, it is not about saying they happened. As we covered, that is what recognition is. Instead, acknowledgment is about becoming self-aware of how situations impacted you. It is about building confidence and security in yourself.
You must recognize the emotions a memory, person, or place brings forward. This means taking a breath and analyzing your feelings and response. This phase has no “bad” emotions because you are working on self-awareness.

Everything you feel and have felt is a valid emotion and response to situations. When you acknowledge and let go of the past, you reduce the power these situations have on you. You begin to regain control of your life mentally, physically, and spiritually. This growth can be carried forward for the rest of your lifetime.
Often, in the acknowledgement phase, the emotions can seem brutal. They come on hard and can make us not want to continue working through them. Know that you are strong, capable, and supported. This is a process like anything else. Take it one moment and one day at a time.

Releasing the Past
We have made it through two challenging phases in letting go of the past. Finally, we have reached the release phase. Here we are focusing on letting go!
After you have recognized and acknowledged the past, releasing it is about mindset. You move through the emotions and then tell yourelf and universe “I release this situation as love and light, it no longer has power of me.”
Saying this outloud or in your mind connects your three brains (gut, heart, mind) in letting go. You are calling forward your power to control your reality. Giving it direction and standing firm in your decisions. Letting go of the past is about creating a stronger froundation so you know you can stand up for yourself.

Know that this is not a selfish or ego based decision, it is one of love and compassion. These sentiments are those you freely give to others, now give them to yourself! To love yoruself is to know true strength and it is okay to put yourself first when embodying love.
Releasing the past does not mean you foget about it. Instead it detaches the emotional, physical, and psychological connection that was made. You sever its power over you using the intention of love and light so you change your vibrations. This vibrataional shift signals the universe you have learned lessons and are now intent on attractnig better things in your life.
